Knee Ankle Foot Hip Arthroscopy

The lower extremity is defined as the hip to the foot. The major joints are the hip, knee, foot and ankle. Most injuries are due to overuse or trauma. Common problems include arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, sprains, strains and fractures. Initial treatment of most injuries/problems is usually rest, ice, compression and elevation. Most injuries are treated nonoperatively and relatively few require surgery. The vast majority of surgical procedures can now be arthroscopically (placing a small camera into the joint).
